Online applications are invited from the intending eligible candidates for the recruitment of SI of Police, SI of Police (Armed), Station Officer (Fire Service) and Asst. Jailor under Home department, Govt. of Odisha. The recruitment is being conducted as per the Combined Competitive Recruitment Examination for Group-B posts of Odisha Police Service, Odisha Prisons Service and Odisha Fire Service


1. SCALE OF PAY: Pay Band of Rs.9300-34800/- with Grade Pay of Rs.4200/- i.e. Rs.35,400/- in Cell-1 of Level-9 of Pay Matrix of ORSP-2017
2. AGE: (a) The candidates shall not be less than 21 (twenty-one) years and not more than 25 (twenty-five) years of age as on 01-01-2024. Date of Birth recorded in the High School Certificate such as Board of Secondary Education of Odisha, Cuttack/ Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi/ Indian Council of Secondary Education, New Delhi or equivalent certificate issued by the concerned Board / Council will only be acceptable to OPRB.
The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years in respect of SC/ST/SEBC/ Women candidates of all categories.Forex-servicemen,the relaxation shall be for the entire period of service rendered in defence service
However, a candidate who comes under more than one category shall be eliqibIe for only one benefit of age relaxation as per rule which will be more beneficial to him/her.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
To be eligible to apply for the posts of Sub Inspector of Police, Sub Inspector of Police (Armed) and Asst. Jailor, the candidates must have passed Bachelors' Degree in any discipline from a recognized University. But, for the post of Station Officer(Fire Service), a candidate must be a Science or Enqineerinq Graduate from a Govt. recoqnized University or Institution.NOTE:
Candidates possessing Academic qualifications from Boards / Universities / Institutions outside Odisha shall have to produce the following documents failing which they shall not be considered eligible for selection.
i. Proof of equivalence from any recognized Uni\/ersities / Board of the State of Odisha.
ii. Affiliation of their institution to a recognized University/Board.
2. GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
A candidate, in order to be eligible for the recruitment, must:
a) Be a citizen of India.
b) Be of a good moral and character.
c) Be of sound health and physique. He should be free from any organic defect or body infirmity.
d) Be able to speak, read and write Odia.
e) Have passed M.E. School or higher examinations with Odia language as a subject, or passed H.S.C. or equivalent examinations with Odia as a medium of examination in non-language subject, or passed the written test in Odia in M.E. School standard conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
Not have more than one spouse living.
g) Not have been convicted for any criminal offence.
SYLLABUS:
Paper-I (100 marks): General English & Odia Language
a) General English
The aim of the paper is to test the candidate's ability to read and understand serious discursive prose and to express his ideas clearly and correctly in English.
The pattern of questions will broadly include the following with graduate standard;
i) Comprehension of a given passage
ii) Usage and vocabulary
iii) Questions to test the knowledge of grammar.
b) Odia Language
i) Comprehension of a given passage.
ii) Usage and vocabulary.
iii) Translation from English to Odia.
Paper- II (200 marks): General Studies
The nature and standard of questions will be such that a well-educated person should be able to answer them without having specialized study of the concerned subjects. The questions shall test general awareness of the candidates of a number of subjects covering various fields of knowledge as expected from any graduate. The questions shall be in English and candidates shall be required to answer in English.
a) The paper on General Studies will include questions the following fields of knowledge:
i) General science and current scientific/technological advancements: The candidate's knowledge of science and technology, including topics related to daily observations and experience, will be assessed through questions.
ii) Current events of national and international importance: Questions shall be to test the knowledge of significant national and international events and of the topics of social relevance in present-day India.
iii) History of India from ancient times and Indian National Movement: Emphasis will be on testing the general understanding of the social, economic and political aspects of the Indian History. Questions on Indian National Movement will relate to the nature & character of the nineteenth-century resurgence, growth of Nationalism, attainment of independence, and role of leading personalities in the freedom movement.
iv) Indian and World Geography: Emphasis will more be on the geography of India. The questions will relate to the physical and economic geography of the country. It shall cover the main features of Indian agriculture and national resources.
v) Indian polity and economy: Questions on Indian polity and economy shall be on the political system, Constitution of India, Panchayati Raj administration, principal features and characteristics of Indian economy, planning and economic development of India.
vi) Mental ability and test of reasoning
vii) Numerical ability test and arithmetic of H.S.C. standard. Basic computer literacy
Paper- III (200 marks): Technical Paper ( For Station Officer-Fire Service post Only)
The Questions shall be of +3 standards from the following subjects, namely-
(i) Physics ,(ii) Chemistry.
The Written Examination will be Objective Type - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) only. Each answer will carry 1 mark. There will be negative marking @ 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
